After Dark at the Park
Thursday, September 3 – Saturday, September 5
We are also opening the park after hours for three nights of photography, $75 a night and capped at thirty photographers. Gates open at 7:30 PM and we wrap at 10:00, and the Park Service shuts down the yard lights so the only light out there is what our crew puts up with photographer Steve Barry.
Thursday is Baldwin #26 under steam with the Lehigh Valley 250th caboose, ending on the turntable.
Friday is the D&H heritage unit, ARHS F units, and the Erie Lackawanna Alcos.
Saturday is #26 with armor behind the shop, then Big Boy #4012 lit from the ground up with re-enactors alongside.
Each night is different equipment, so book them separately.
World War 2 Vehicle Rides
Friday, September 4 – Sunday, September 6
Three World War II vehicles will be running at Steamtown, and you can buy a seat in any of them.
Two are M3A1 Stuart light tanks, both built built 50 miles from here at American Car & Foundry in Berwick: Lady Lois & No. 7073. Tank rides are $150 for about 10 minutes, two riders per trip in the turret where the crew sat.
The M3 half-track in medic markings carries eight riders at $30 a seat in the open troop compartment, and it is the easiest of the three to climb into.
We will be giving jeep rides too, sold onsite only, first come first served.
Every ticket is a fundraiser for DL&W Troop Sleeper No. 3621, the car that carried American soldiers to the ports of embarkation, parked a few hundred feet from where the vehicles run.
